Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Leadership
Program Overview
The graduate certificate in Human Resources Leadership prepares graduates to lead the HR function in modern organizations across sectors. Modern HR leadership requires fluency in HR strategy, function design, workforce analytics, total rewards, employee relations, employment law, risk management, and inclusive practice, and the leaders who succeed are the ones who can integrate these competencies into coherent organizational responses.
Admission Requirements
Individuals seeking admission to a Newberry College graduate program must meet the following minimal requirements:
- Provide official transcripts from an accredited degree-granting university or college demonstrating completion of a bachelor's degree.
- Students must have earned a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (as recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation)
- Students must have a minimum, cumulative college GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale OR 3.0 or higher during the final 60 hours of undergraduate coursework. The GPA requirement is waived for applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for an earned graduate degree.

The online master’s certificate in Human Resources Leadership requires a total of 12 credit hours:
- HRL 500 Strategy, Operating Models, and Global Workforce
- HRL 510 Workforce Analytics, Total Rewards, and Employee Relations
- HRL 520 Employment Law, Risk, and Corporate Responsibility
- HRL 530 Strategic HR Capstone
Pathway Toward MS Degree
- These 4 certificate courses (12 credits) apply toward the full MS in Organizational Development and Leadership degree.
- After completing the certificate, students need an additional 24 credit hours to complete the MS degree.
