What You Need to Succeed in Newberry College Online Classes

Before your first online class begins, it’s important to have the right technology, course materials, and tools. This will help you stay organized, connect with your professors, and get the most out of your classes.

Technology Requirements for Online Classes

To do your best work in online college courses, you’ll need a dependable computer and internet connection.

Recommended computer specs:

  • Laptop or desktop computer (Windows or Mac)
  • Up-to-date operating system (Windows 10+ or macOS 11+)
  • Current web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge)

Internet connection:

  • High-speed internet (at least 5 Mbps download speed)
  • A wired connection is best for live video classes

Helpful accessories:

  • Built-in or external webcam
  • Microphone or headset for video chats
  • Printer (optional, but nice to have for study notes)

Software:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • PDF reader (like Adobe Acrobat)
  • Updated antivirus and security software
